    The Law of the People’s Republic of China on Changjiang River Protection (Draft) was submitted on December 23 for the first time to the 15th meeting of Standing Committee of 13th National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China for deliberation. The Law on Changjiang River Protection will be a law for comprehensive protection of ecological environment of Changjiang River Basin.

    Information from MOT dated November 20 indicates that P.R. China MSA published the Technical Rules for Statutory Inspection to Inland River Ships (2019) (hereinafter referred  to as “Rules”) recently, explicitly stipulating that as of June 1, 2020, a newly constructed inland river ship shall equip with sewage treatment or storage unit.

    Zhenjiang MSA detained a foreign vessel in accordance with law

    In the morning on October 14, Dagang MSA of Zhenjiang found three defects upon conducting PSC inspection for MV DENSA PUMA, amongst which, “rescue boat releasing appliance could not rotate out the boat” was a severe defect involving lifesaving equipment of vessel. Dagang MSA hence detained the vessel. The vessel rendered repair and correction immediately. In the morning on October 15, inspectors from Dagang MSA re-inspected the vessel and released it as the vessel was found qualified upon such re-inspection.
