In the morning on October 14, Dagang MSA of Zhenjiang found three defects upon conducting PSC inspection for MV DENSA PUMA, amongst which, “rescue boat releasing appliance could not rotate out the boat” was a severe defect involving lifesaving equipment of vessel. Dagang MSA hence detained the vessel. The vessel rendered repair and correction immediately. In the morning on October 15, inspectors from Dagang MSA re-inspected the vessel and released it as the vessel was found qualified upon such re-inspection.

It is learnt that MV DENSA PUMA is a Maltese bulk carrier. She called at Dagang this time for discharge of 15005ton spodumene.  After the maritime officials attended onboard and found the defect that “rescue boat releasing appliance could not rotate out the boat”, the Master notified the classification society (ABS) and Owners of the vessel in the afternoon on October. The Owners realized the severity of the issue and immediately entrusted a repair company who arrived onboard at 0300hrs on Oct.15 and carried out the repair. Meanwhile, surveyors of ABS attended onboard at night to confirm the correction and issued additional survey report.

At 0930hrs on Oct.15, two officials from Dagang MSA attended onboard to re-inspect. The vessel was released as she was found qualified in such re-inspection.
