The Ministry of Ecology and Environment of P.R.C., together with the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission and the General Administration of China Customs, have jointly released the Announcement on Adjusting the Catalogue for the Administration of the Import of Solid Wastes (“Announcement”) on 19 April 2018. The Announcement adjusts certain types of solid wastes under import restriction into the Catalogue of Solid Wastes Prohibited from Importation with the effective date being as following: 

i) As from 31 December 2018: sixteen types of solid wastes, including scrap metal, scrap vessel, scrap automobiles, smelt slag, waste plastics originated from industrial resources, will be prohibited from importation;

ii）As from 31 December 2019: sixteen types of solid waste, including stainless steel scrap, titanium scrap, wood wastes, will be prohibited from importation.
