First Penalty in Shandong ECA for Using High Sulphur Fuel When Berthing at Port

Yantai MSA imposed an administrative penalty of RMB 50,000 on a vessel flying Marshall Island flag for beach of using high sulphur fuel when berthing at the Longkou Port.

 

It is reported that on 21 March 2018, when local MSA officers patrolling at the Longkou Port, they found the chimney of the related vessel belching black smoke. It was proved that the vessel had never changed low sulphur fuel when berthing at Longkou port, and she continued to using fuel with sulphur content of over 3.3% mm, which exceeding nearly 6 times of the limit of sulphur content (0.5% mm).
