Local MSAs Imposed Fine on Three Foreign Vessels for Illegal Discharge over Two Months

During lasttwo months, local MSAs in Jiangsu Province imposed fines on three foreignvessels for illegal discharge of oily wastewater or sewage into the YangtzeRiver. On May 8th, Taicang MSA posed fine of RMB 200,000 on a Philippine vesselfor illegal discharging of oily wastewater. On May 6th, Zhang Jia Gang MSAdetained a Panama vessel that discharging raw sewage into the river andrequested a further investigation. Also in March 6th, when PSCO of Zhang JiaGang MSA paying an on-spot investigation on a Cyprus vessel,  the vessel was found to have defective sewagepump and also had directly discharged the sewage into the Yangtze River, andthe vessel was imposed a fine of RMB 28,000.
