On 6 December 2018, the first plenary session of the Insurance and Law Committee under China Shipowners Association was convened in Shanghai. Mr. Xu Zuyuan, the IMO maritime ambassador and the former vice-minister of the MOT, Mr. Zhang Shouguo, the vice-president of CSA, Mr. Yu Shicheng, the former principal of Shanghai Maritime University, Mr. Song Chunfeng, the General Manger of China Shipowners Mutual Assurance Association attended the meeting.

The Insurance and Law Committee is composed of over 70 members, who are experts, scholars in insurance and maritime law.

During the meeting, Mr. Yu Shicheng was elected as honorary director; Mr. Song Chunfeng was elected as chairman. Mr. Meng Ye and Mr. Yang Lei from COSCO Shipping, Mr. Zhang Baoliang from China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd., Mr. Feng Jianhua from PICC, Ms. Liang Yan from Cosco Marine Property Insurance Self-Insurance Co., Ltd., Ms. Wang Guohua from Shanghai Maritime University, Mr. Chu Beiping from Dalian Maritime University and Greg Yang from Hai Tong & Partners were elected as vice chairman.
