Chinese Ministry of Transport(MOT) announced recently the suspension of special port fees imposed on US vessels and the halt of an investigation into the impacts on the shipping, shipbuilding, and related industrial and supply chains. The move is taken to implement the consensus reached during the 2025 China-US economic and trade consultations in Kuala Lumpur.
According to MOT’s announcement, approved by the State Council, the suspensions take effect from 13:01 on November 10, 2025, and will last for one year. This action is synchronized with the US side’s suspension of the final measures from its Section 301 investigation into China’s maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding sectors.
The reciprocal suspensions mark a significant step in de-escalating recent trade tensions between the world’s two largest economies, following the recent high-level consultations.
